With all the modifications to the photography in professional publications, its no surprise that the public has lost all faith in their journalistic integrity. Jim http://www.TextMatch.me -- Love on the go.

I hope people realize that the "before" photo is heavily photoshopped to make it worse. (and obviously so.)

I agree with aantix and Lakawak. We are made to believe to perceive cover girls as enviously perfect, on one hand we are easily deceived by the uglier facade showed in the "before Photoshop". The lesson here is: Print aesthetics is incomparable with the imperfect real world, real bodies and real faces we have. Photograph technology has a lot to offer, in presenting an ideal figure for us to admire or envy. Now a simple touch of electronic magic is all we need to appear eternally young and beautiful. Or it can destroy originality and caricature personalities. We must have discerning eye to view things around us and judge them just not as how they appear but judge them according to their societal value. http://kayacamilla.com

Has the availability of photoshop resulted in unrealistic expectations, or lazy photography? I have seen hundreds of real girls in person who are just as hot as the after picture here. I think, rather than creating unrealistic expectations, photoshop has just allowed magazine editors, advertisers, etc. to raise less attractive (and thus, cheaper) models and poor lighting and angle choices to the expectations people already had based on real life experiences of physical beauty.
